Renewable Energy

What is Renewable Energy

Renewable technology, also called microgeneration and low-carbon technology,  comes from resources that are naturally replenished such as sunlight, heat from the ground, water and air. Using these free resources reduces our dependence on fossil fuels and our impact on the environment. The EU has classified heat pumps as a renewable energy source because the output of solar energy greatly exceeds the input of energy needed to run it.

On average 75% of household energy bills are as a result of heating and hot water.

The Government is legally committed to meeting 15% of the UK’s energy demand from renewable sources by 2020. This will help to achieve the UK’s energy security and carbon reduction objectives. De-carbonising heat therefore remains a key priority for the Government. UK Renewable Energy Roadmap
